Self-Analysis

These next questions will take a bit of self-analysis, and are designed to dig out any negative beliefs or inner conflict.

Self-Analysis Questions

What will achieving the goal get you? Is it happiness, fitness or health. What does that mean? How will it affect the rest of your life? Will you be more confident or outgoing? Will your relationships improve?
What is the context? In other words where will you be? Who else is involved?

What will you need to help you achieve the goal? What do you have now, that you could use to help? Have you lost any weight before? What can you learn? Can you do it differently this time? Is there anything you need to avoid. What about People or Places? Are there any of these you should avoid. For example are you tempted by the doughnuts in the supermarket? Write a shopping list or even shop on-line.

What will you lose? Obviously you will lose fat and weight, but what else? Sugary foods, a pint with the lads, daily muffin? It’s quite natural to be a bit sad at the thought of losing these, but better to be prepared, so you can substitute them. More of this later. All you need to do at this stage is bring to your awareness anything that could jeopardise your efforts.
What will you gain? Will you gain admiring looks or positive comments? How do you feel about this? Is there any deep emotion regarding this?

The Final Questions to Smoke Out Any Resistance

Your head might spin with these final four questions, but answer them anyway because they are designed to dig out any hidden beliefs you might have about your weight and eating in general.
