The food journal is a powerful tool in identifying your habits. As we’ve seen already, many of the day-to-day things we do are unconscious, but if we can shine the light of consciousness on them we can easily change them for the better. Are there particular times of day when you feel especially hungry? Or are you in a certain place, when comfort food becomes tempting. Are you with a certain person?


When you look back over a week’s worth of notes you might be surprised at all the little things you eat and drink that add up to a large amount. It’s those empty 100 calories here and there, throughout the day that can cause the damage rather than the weekend Chinese takeaway.
